MILLS COUNTY MAN DIES IN ACTION

(Fort Worth Star -Telegram)
Second Lt. Eugene D. Wilmeth, 22, King of the Texas A& M Cotton Ball in 1942, was killed in action May 7 in North Africa, his aunt, Mrs. J.F. Bateman of 2009 Rock Ridge Terrace, was informed Monday.

Mrs. Bateman said that Lieutenant Wilmeth, who was schooled at Fort Benning and Fort Knox after his graduation from A & M a year ago, went to England last September and then to North Africa two months later.

Another Fort Worth aunt of the lieutenant is Mrs. Joe Wilmeth of 110 Hurley.

TWO MILLS COUNTY BOYS DIE IN ACTION

Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Moody of Mullin have received word that their son, Maurice Moody, aerial gunner of a large bomber squadron, has been missing in action since May 21, from somewhere in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. Moody lost their son-in-law D. Bramlett, only six months ago in a plane crash in Dallas.

Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Wilmeth of Ebony have received word that their son, Second Lt. Eugene D. Wilmeth, King of Texas A and M Cotton Ball of 1942, was killed in action May 7 in North Africa. Young Wilmeth was a graduate from A and M College and from Fort Benning, GA and Fort Knox. He sailed for England last September and went on to Africa two months later. He was one of the finest boys ever raised in Ebony Community and all who knew "Gene as he was affectionately called, bow their head in sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmeth of Ebony. They have another son in the service who at present is still in the United States.
