Mrs. John R. Carter, Jr.

Joe D. Carter Inducted Jan 1940 "Army" sailed for ETO in April 1944. Flew 51 missions over enemy territory as tail gunner on B-24; He was adwared Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, and Purple Heart, Discharged in January 1945


Arvil B. Carter, was inducted into the Army in August of 1942 and was trained at Waco ann Kelly Field; was awarded Air Netal for participation in the Pacific Campaign in October 1943, Discharged in January 1946
Alfred Carter, entered the Army on August 14, 1942 and left for the European Operations on April 29, 1943 and fought in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, and Rome-Arno with the 82nd Airborne Division; awarded the Purple Heart, Unit Citation Discharged October 30, 1945
Garth B. Carter, entered the Army on June 17, 1940 saided for ETO in February of 1943. Fought in Salerno, Naples, Cassion, Anzio, Rome, Southeran France, Rhineland, Germany and Austria with 36th Division, awarded the Purple Heart, discharged at rank of Technical Sgt.

Three Sons in Army
One Son in Marines
Lynn L. Martin, Enterd the Marine Corps in May 1943 and recieved his training at teh Marine Base in San Diego, CA Spent 18 months in the Pacifice awith a quartermaster unit and was discharged in February 1946

Cruz Corona, inducted into the Army on April 8, 1942, sailed for the Pacific on April 4, 1944 fought in Southeran Phillippines, Ryukyus, awarded the Purple Heart with cluster; served with the 32nd Infantry Division, discharged on Aug 15, 1946
Joe M. Corona, inducted into the Army on Jan 7, 1942, trained at Fort Sam Houston; sailed for the ETO on Feb 11, 1945, fought in Rhineland, and Central Europe, discharged on Nov 26, 1945
Nicolas T. Corona, entered the Army on Dec 7, 1942, received training at Camp Barkeley, Camp Wolters; sailed for Pacific on April 4, 1943, fought at New Caledonia and Luzon; discharged on Jan 8, 1946
Paz Corona, inducted into the Army on Aug 16, 1941, sailed for the ETO on Oct 21, 1943, fought at Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland, served with 741st Tank unit; discharged Oct 20,, 1945

Jack P. Cooksey, Inducted into Army, May 4, 1943 sailed for ETO Aug 16, 1944, fought in Rhineland and Central Europe, with 80th Infantry Division, awarded Purple Heart,
James M. Cooksey, entered the Army Air Force on June 7, 1943 left for ETO Nov 15, 1944, served in the Rhineland and Central Germany campaign, was attached to the 395th Fighter Squadron
Tom Cooksey, Jr., Inducted into the Army Air Force July 29, 1943; sailed overseas June 23, 1945 served in the North Alantic sector; discharged in February 1946

William Jack Shaw, son of Taylor and Callie Shaw, was born May 9, 1883 at Shaw Bend, Saba County, TX and married Rachel Josephine Rose on May 1, 1904. She was the daughter of Alexander and Sarah Elizabeth Rose, born on August 30, 1885 in Mills County, Texas. They had Eleven Children: Herbert; O. V., Norma, Callie Beatrice, DeAlbert, A.M.; Oran; Annie Louise; Alex; Orville; Mary Alice. Four of these children served during World War II at the same time.
Alex Shaw, inducted into the Navy on March 22, 1943, trained at San Diego, California, spent 25 months in the Pacific; served on Okinawa,; was a member of crew on the USS Cascade; discharged on June 3, 1946
A.M. Shaw, was inducted into the Army on Feb 16, 1942 and sailed for ETO in June 1942 abd fought in Bulge, Italy, France, and Germany, served with the seventh and third armies, discharged July 1945
John Orville Shaw, entered the Navy on August 28, 1943 and trained in San Diego, CA served on the USS Cullman and traveled to China, Japan, Manila and Guam; discharged on April 2, 1946
O. V. Shaw, entered the Army in 1942 and trained at Camp Bowie, Camp Leonard Wood, Moo adn Seattle, Washington, sailed for Alaska in March 1943 ans served with the 136th Engineers, discharged in March 1945
